Questions & Answers
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE REACHING OUT
Starting therapy — especially for the first time, or after a hard experience with a provider who didn't get it — takes courage. Here are the answers to the most common questions.
-
Fill out the contact form on the Contact page. You'll be able to share a bit about what you're looking for, your insurance or payment preference, and whether you're interested in in-person sessions in Millcreek or virtual therapy throughout Utah. From there, we'll schedule a free 15-minute consultation to explore whether working together is a good fit.
-
A 15-minute phone or video call to talk through what you're experiencing, your goals for therapy, any previous experience with treatment, and any questions you have about the process. There's no pressure to commit. It's a chance to get a feel for whether this is the right space for you.

Betty is in-network with HMHI (the University of Utah's mental health insurance network). She also works with private-pay clients. During your consultation, we'll talk through your options and help you understand what to expect.
-
Keeping a limited insurance panel allows Betty to provide specialized, high-quality care without the limitations that many insurance systems place on treatment. ERP and EMDR — especially in intensive formats — require flexibility, extended sessions, and a structured approach that broader insurance panels don't always support. This decision is about protecting the integrity of the work and the care you receive.
-
Private pay is available. Superbills can be provided upon request, which you may be able to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Every plan is different — we'd encourage you to check with your provider directly.
-
Free 15-minute consultation | $200 for a 60-minute intake session | $180 for 50-minute established client sessions | ERP 90-minute intensive sessions: $350 | EMDR extended sessions: $220–$475 depending on length. Please see the Services page for full intensive format pricing.

-
Please provide at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations or reschedules. Late cancellations or no-shows may be subject to a fee. We'll walk through this together during your intake session.
-
Yes. Many people arrive at therapy labeled with "anxiety" when OCD is actually what's driving their experience. Part of what we do, especially in the early sessions, is to provide clear psychoeducation to help you understand what's actually happening. You don't need to arrive with a diagnosis to begin.
-
Absolutely. Perinatal mental health affects everyone in the parenting journey — partners, co-parents, adoptive parents, intended parents, surrogates, and others. Approximately 1 in 10 partners experience perinatal mental health challenges, and they deserve support too.
-
An emphatic No! Perinatal mental health challenges can persist long after one year postpartum if left untreated — and many people don't connect their current struggles to the reproductive or parenting experiences that preceded them. It is never too late to get support.

As required by law, you'll receive a Notice of Privacy Practices explaining how your information is handled. Under the No Surprises Act, you are also entitled to a Good Faith Estimate of expected costs before beginning services. Both documents will be provided during the intake process.
